A summary is an additional report entry calculated over a range of field values. You can have summaries at the end of a report or sub-summaries at the end of a group. The report above shows Count summaries and sub-summaries.

A group is a set of related records. A group is created by first sorting on a field value and then grouping records by field value. The groups above are grouped by Type.
