How are the fill color and pattern different from the line color and pattern?

Images with different line and fill patterns

Color palettes for line and fill

The images you draw are bounded by a line that can have its own color and pattern. This creates four options for colors and patterns. The line around your image has a color and pattern, and the center of the image has a (fill) color and pattern. For example, the red circle above has a line color of red, a line pattern of solid (the line is larger to demonstrate that the size of the line is a separate attribute), a fill color of blue, and a fill pattern of cross hatch. The yellow rectangle above has a line color of green, a dashed line pattern, a fill color of yellow, and a fill pattern of solid.

How is a pattern different from a color?

A pattern adds texture and a color is solid. For most people texture is more pleasing to the eye than a solid color.

You may have noticed that the background image for much of this on-line course is textured:.
