Unit 4: Integration With Word

Lesson 11: Drawing in Word: AutoShapes and WordArt

How do you adjust or "skew" AutoShapes?

For those AutoShapes that are more than just the basic shape, like a thunderbolt, a star, etc., a yellow diamond-shaped adjustment handle is displayed when the object is selected. This handle allows you to adjust the appearance of the AutoShape. The handle allows you to change the most prominent feature of the shape, like the size of an arrowhead, the smile on the smiley face, a curve, etc.

To make this adjustment, click on the yellow Adjustment handle, and drag as you want to adjust. You will see a dotted shape of what the shape would look like, as you drag. The following avi animation shows how a vertical scroll is adjusted.
