How does a folder or directory compare to a disk or diskette?

A folder is a feature provided by your operating system which allows you to better organize your files. A diskette is a physical device on which you can create folders and store files. You can toss a diskette across the room, but you can only talk about folders. You become aware of folders when you are browsing files on your diskette or saving a document.
