Unit 3: Advanced Data Entry and Viewing

Lesson 6: Creating a Database Form

How do you use a form to enter and view data?

A form provides an interface for adding, modifying and viewing records.

The following animation shows how to:

  1. Move between records.
  2. Modify a record.
  3. Create a new record.
  4. Copy and paste a record.

Entering and viewing data with a form

Here are some comments about using a form for data entry:

  1. The toolbar is used to move between records.
  2. Changes made on a form are propagated immediately to the underlying record source (table).
  3. is used to add a new record
  4. Clicking on the left-hand margin selects the current record. (It's like clicking to the left of a record in Datasheet view.) Once you have selected a record you may copy it. Notice that when you paste a record on a form you must again select the (possible new) record.
