Unit 3: Advanced Data Entry and Viewing

Lesson 6: Creating a Database Form

How do you create a simple form?

Probably the easiest way to create a form is with AutoForm. AutoForm creates a standard "no frills" form that includes a control for each field in the source table or query. Even when you need something much different from a standard form, it's often easier to first create the form with AutoForm and then make your desired changes in Form Design view.

The following animation shows how to create a form with the New Object/AutoForm button.

Creating a form with AutoForm

Some things to notice in the above animation:

  1. The first step is to select the table or query you would like to create an AutoForm for.
  2. Then select AutoForm from the New Object toolbar button
  3. Presto! You now have a form. Notice that after you save the form it appears as a form object in the database.
