Unit 4: Integration With Word

Lesson 11: Drawing in Word: AutoShapes and WordArt

How do you draw something in Word?

With Word97, you don't need to create a drawing on another application and insert into your document. You can create your drawing using Word97, right in your document. The Draw toolbar at the bottom of the Word screen makes it even easier.

To draw a line, just click on the Line Tool . You can then draw by clicking and dragging anywhere on your document. You can always move it or resize it, like you would with inserted clip art. To adjust the line width, click on the Line Width icon . To color the line, select the line and click on the Line Color icon .

Similarly, to draw rectangles or ovals, use the respective tools on the Draw toolbar. To color in the shapes, select the shape and click on the Fill icon . For borders or frames, use the Line Width and Line Style tools. To draw more than basic shapes, use AutoShapes.

To create complex drawings, you can group the basic objects together. You will learn more about this further in this lesson.
